Today’s Headline: Good Bouts To Be Put On By Selma Firemen.
Cletus Paitsel, Selma 195-pounder, W. Westmoreland, Covington, heavyweight, will meet in the feature bout of the boxing show to be staged Friday night, July 3, at 8 p.m. in the People’s Hall in Clifton Forge.
Proceeds from the fights and combination dance which will follow are to go for the benefit of the Selma Fire Department, which was organized less than one year ago.

Today’s Headline: Kaybee Store Sold To Star.
Star Supermarkets Inc. of Tampa, Fla., has acquired controlling stock interest in Dejay Stores Inc., owner of the Covington Kaybee store at 383 W. Main St.
Mallow Presbyterian Church ended its two-week Vacation Bible School on June 23rd with an enrollment of 102 pupils and teachers. Average daily attendance was 78.
Fire of an undetermined origin completely destroyed a two-story frame house in Rich Patch early this morning.

The Covington Police Department is investigating several larcenies which occurred from vehicles over the weekend.
Police are investigating a petit larceny which occurred from a vehicle parked at 524 Rockbridge Street between 12 midnight Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday.
