Today’s Headline: Wounded When He Attacks Officer.
Jeff Cosby, young Covington boy, was shot through the lower part of the back shortly before 7 o’clock last night by Town Officer Howard Ware, when resisting arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and attacking the arresting officer.
He was taken to the hospital shortly afterwards in a taxicab where hospital authorities said that his condition was not serious.
When Officer Ware attempted to arrest the man, he resisted and Ware then sought to subdue him with his blackjack, but the youth grabbed him around the neck in a strangle hold.
The officer then drew his gun and shot Cosby, aiming to inflict only a minor wound.
