Today’s Headline: Covington General Hospital Observes Fifth Anniversary.
The Covington General Hospital is observing the fifth anniversary of its establishment, it having been opened to the public on “Hospital Day” May 13, 1931, five years ago today.
More than 500 persons visited the C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge yesterday and observed the improvements and new wing which have just been completed at a cost of $160,000.

Today’s Headline: Area Proms Enjoyed By Local Students.
Annual proms were held at Covington High School, Clifton Forge High School and Central High School Saturday. At Covington High School, Robert Wayne Vess was crowned king, while Joyce DeSalvo was crowned queen.
Handsome little boys turned into alluring females for a few moments and before a packed house, too, at the Valley Elementary School last night in the classic “The Womanless Wedding.”

Today’s Headline: Helen Jean Fitzgerald To Receive Medallion Of Merit.
Helen Jean Fitzgerald of Covington has been named this year’s recipient of the Medallion of Merit. The award will be presented at the Dabn ey S. Lancaster Community College’s graduation exercises June 14.
The Covington-Alleghany Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America held its annual Ladies Night banquet at the Western Sizzlin’ Steak House May 6.

One hundred thirty-six degrees were conferred during Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s 39th commencement exercises Friday evening.
ClubCorp has announced it has engaged Goldman Sachs as its executive financial advisor to explore strategic options, including the possibile sale of the company
