Megan Lockhart, center, a sophomore at Covington High School, will attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar May 27-29 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
The Covington Woman’s Club, along with Jean Rice and Joann Williams, are sponsoring Megan.
The mission of HOBY is to seek out, recognize and develop leadership potential among high school sophomores.
The seminar is designed to create an experience for students that will encourage them to think critically and enhance their leadership skills.
All aspects of the seminar are geared toward encouraging the students to see leadership as a life-long goal worth pursuing. After completing the seminar, students are asked to undertake 100 hours of community service during the next 12 months and to report back to HOBY on their achievements.
Megan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lance Lockhart of Covington. At left is Carolyn O’Conner, and at right is Paula Pickwick, both members of the CWC.
