HOT SPRINGS – Piney Grove Baptist Church Women’s Fellowship retreat brought 125 women together Saturday, Sept. 18 from area churches.

The event was sponsored by the Deaconess Board of Piney Grove Baptist Church where the Rev. Ed Mansfield is pastor.
According to Deaconess Board member Mary Adderton “It was a full afternoon of outstanding speakers, soloists, praise dancers, special prayer time and wonderful food.”

Theme of the day was The Power of Christian Women in the 21st Century.

“The speakers did an excellent job of relating Christian women of the Bible to the role of women in the 21st century,” Adderton said.

Speakers included the Rev. Rosalyn Thomas, interim pastor of First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge; Mrs. Linda Cook, Pine Street Baptist Church, Covington, and the Rev. Dr. Diane Quarles of Wrightsville Baptist Church.

Soloists were Mrs. Pearl Miller, McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, Covington; Mrs. Mary Heighter, Concerned Christian Baptist Church, Covington; Mrs. Jane Wright, Life Line Ministries Church; Mrs. Joyce Bates, Promise Land Baptist church.

The Liturgical dancers were from First Baptist church in Clifton Forge.

“Members of the Piney Grove Baptist Deaconess Board feel that they have planted a seed for women’s fellowship and retreats for this area,”

Adderton said. “They look forward to having this event again next year.”

Members of the Deaconess Board in addition to Adderton are Mrs. Evelyn Wright, Mrs. Brenda Braxton, Mrs. Linda Cardwell, Mrs. Joan Williams, Mrs. Gloria Braxton and Mrs. Nancy Smothers.
