Walter Miles “Red” Knick Jr. 68, of 1410 Richmond Ave., Selma, departed this life to his heavenly home Thursday, September 16, 2010.
He was born January 9, 1942 in Covington, a son of the late Walter M. Knick Sr. and Mary Scott Knick.
Mr. Knick was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired for Hercules, Inc. after a number of years.
He was an evening attendant at Pinehurst Exxon for several years.
Red found much joy in the simple things in life. He greatly enjoyed helping people though struggles that he had faced.
Surviving are cousins, Ruby K. Wiley of Covington and her sons, Kevin Wiley and Larry Wiley, Haven Nicely of Collierstown, Gregg and Charity Knick of Covington and their children, Brandon Knick and Amber Knick, Pete and Beulah Knick of Collierstown and their children, Mike Knick and Amy and also numerous other cousins of the Scott and Knick families; childhood and best friend, Bill Dawson of Covington, and a number of friends in the area who will long remember Red.
In keeping with Red’s wishes, his body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating.
Following the service, the family will receive their friends at the funeral home.
