LEWISBURG W.Va. (VR) – Emergency crews responded to reports of a shooting in Lewisburg on Jan. 6. One woman was found deceased inside the home and her son, Andrew Yancy Gabbert, 33, was subsequently arrested.

A press release from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department states, “On Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at approximately 0852 hours [8:52 a.m.] deputies with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a shooting located at 894 Anderson Road in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County.”

Unfortunately, the situation resulted in one death. The release from the sheriff’s office said, “Upon arrival, deputies found Shirley Gabbert, age 72, deceased inside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound.”

Police arrested one person, the victim’s son, Andrew Yancy Gabbert. He “was taken into custody at the residence without incident, processed and transported to Southern Regional Jail.”
