RICHWOOD, WV (VR) —On Monday, May 18, 2026, Staci L Wind, 50, of Richwood, filed a missing person’s report to Richwood Police Department, for her daughter Ayla C Wind, 26, of Richwood.
 
On Friday, May 22, 2026, the West Virginia State Police Richwood Detachment responded to Summit Lake, in Greenbrier County, to investigate a report of found human remains. During the investigation Troopers located a shallow grave containing a deceased human body.
 
The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Unit responded to assist with the crime scene.
 
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Staci Wind was arrested at a residence on Riverside Drive, in Richwood, for the murder of Ayla Wind. Staci Wind was charged with first Degree Murder and transported to Central Regional Jail to await arraignment.
 
This investigation is ongoing.
