RAINELLE, W.Va. (AP) – Investigators are looking for the cause of a house explosion that injured six people in western Greenbrier County.
The Monday morning blast leveled the house in the community of McRoss between Rainelle and Charmco.
Rainelle Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Shawn Wolford says the explosion’s force threw two victims clear of the structure.
Greenbrier County Sheriff James J. Childers says one victim is the house’s owner, Terry Patterson Sr. Most of the others are members of Patterson’s family. They weren’t identified.
Childers says one victim was treated at a local hospital and released. The others were transferred to regional trauma centers.
Their conditions weren’t immediately available Tuesday morning.
