Valley Girl May Be in Beauty Show:
“Princess
Shenandoah” May visit Atlantic City and
Take Part in
Beauty Pageant
WINCHESTER, Va., May 7. — Now that the first apple blossom festival of Winchester has passed into history, it is proposed to extend its scope by sending to Atlantic City a “Princess Shenandoah,” who, surrounded by the products of the Shenandoah Valley, will take part in the great annual beauty parade held each September.
The idea generally is to have a young lady selected by ballot by each county and county seat (13 in all) and for these to meet at a central point and the princess to be selected by a board composed of men and women living outside the interested counties.
Atlantic City will pay all expenses of approved contestants, except float and costume.
