SWOOPE – Over the holiday break, the Bath County boys’ basketball team won two out of three games, including home wins over James River and Meadow Bridge (W.VA).
Just days before the winter break, the Chargers dropped one on the basketball court on the road against Buffalo Gap by the final score of 66-42.
Despite falling behind 16-9 following the first quarter, the Bison came out firing in the second quarter and shut down the Chargers offense by holding them to only two points for the entire second quarter as BGHS outscored BCHS 22-2 in the period.
The Bison led 31-18 at halftime.
After the rough second quarter, Bath County could not get back into the game as Buffalo Gap’s lead continued to build as the Bison pushed the lead over 20 points by the end of the third quarter.
The loss at the time was the Chargers second in a row and third in their previous four games.
Luke Turner led Bath County with a team-high 11 points.
Isaac Goff led all scorers with 20 points for Buffalo Gap.

HOT SPRINGS – On December 21st – Bath County prevailed victorious for the second time in three meetings over James River (Buchanan) following a 60-46 win in Hot Springs.
Senior Issac Ingram paced the Chargers with a team-high 14 points, as he knocked down four 3-pointers in the teams fourth win of the season.
Following a slim 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Chargers did not look back and continued to maintain the pace of the game as the team built a 23-12 lead by the end of the first half.
Bath County kept the pace going into the second half, despite James River putting together their best quarter of play in the entire game as the Knights scored 19 points.
While it was a big quarter for the Knights to try and close the gap, the Chargers kept with the Knights and outscored them by just one point to maintain a double-digit lead at 43-31.
The Chargers had three players in double figures scoring; Ingram 14, Andrew Turner tied for the team-high with 14 points, while Luke Turner added 12.
Trey Taylor led all scorers with a game-high 20 points for James River.

HOT SPRINGS – At the beginning of the season, Bath County crushed Meadow Bridge (W.Va.) by 32 points.
On December 29th, the final score was a little bit closer, but it was more of the same as the Chargers cruised to a 68-50 win over the Wildcats.
Bath County was lifted by four players scoring in double digits.
Andrew Turner led the way for the Chargers with a team-high 17 points. Luke Turner added 15 for BCHS, while Issac Ingram scored 13, and Wyatt Campbell had 11.
The win was Bath County’s second in a row and moved their record to 5-6 overall.
Brycen Sawyers led all scorers with 18 points for Meadow Bridge.
The Chargers will open up the new year with their first game following winter break on Thursday at Craig County for a Pioneer District contest.
