The Alleghany Cougars Varsity golf team recently had a match at the Lexington Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, September 13th. Coach Archie Lemon shared that the Rockbridge County Wildcats, the host of the meet, allowed all 12 Varsity players on Alleghany to play at the match. Only six of the players’ scores counted, but the rest of the team was still able to enjoy the green and keep track of their scores. The scores for the Alleghany Cougars which counted towards the match are as follows:

              Kai Rowland: 36

              Chase DePriest: 40

              Haden Spinks: 44

              Landon Arritt: 45

              Peyton Meadows: 48

              Mason Hale: 51

The scores for the remaining team members are:

              Jacob Morris: 43

              Cadiz Marshall: 44

              Chris Harden: 45

              Dylan Stull: 56

              Nick Worley: 59

The team scores are as follows:

              Lord Botetourt: 151

              Alleghany: 164

              Rockbridge County: 175

The medalist was Jeremy Simmons of Lord Botetourt with a score of 33.

When asked if he had anything to add about the match, Head Coach Archie Lemon said, “Kai Rowland (sophomore) played a solid round today and had Alleghany’s lowest score. His hard work is coming to fruition.”

The next Varsity golf match is scheduled for next Monday, September 18th at Ironwood Country Club in Staunton at 9 a.m. According to Lemon, “We are qualifying against Staunton, Waynesboro, and Wilson Memorial. Two teams and the top three individuals, not on either team, will advance to Regionals.”

Shortly after, the JV golf team will host a match at Cliff View against James River on Wednesday, September 20th at 4 p.m.
