CLIFTON FORGE — Sharon Elementary School still has openings in its PreK/Virginia Preschool Initiative program for eligible four-year-olds.
Parents of children who turn four prior to Sept. 30, 2023, may apply for a child to be entered. Parents may visit Sharon Elementary School at 100 Sharon Circle, Clifton Forge, to fill out an application. For convenience, an application may also be filed online at https://families.smart2start.org.
Eligibility for the VPI program is based on income and other factors. Parents must provide a birth certificate and other documentation.
The Alleghany Highlands Public School Division’s ability to provide the VPI program at Sharon Elementary School is largely based on enrollment. Parents interested in enrolling a four-year-old in the program should visit or contact Sharon Elementary School as soon as possible. The telephone number is (540) 863-1712.
AHPS was created through the July 2022 merger of Alleghany County Public Schools, Covington City Public Schools, and Jackson River Technical Center. The school division is jointly funded by Alleghany County and the City of Covington. AHPS serves approximately 2,700 students.
