Hot Springs, VA – Bath Community Physicians Group is pleased to announce the addition of Nurse Practioner Michaela Kern to their team. With knowledge in assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic patients of all ages, Michaela is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
Michaela holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Baylor University in Dallas, TX, since earning of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, VA. In addition to her education, Michaela has completed clinical rotations at Bath Community Physicians Group in Covington in family medicine and women’s health; Jackson River Pediatrics in Covington; and Ende Medical Practice in Petersburg, VA.
Michaela’s employment history includes working as a travel intensive care nurse for Aya Healthcare and American Traveler, where she provided nursing care in COVID and cardio-thoracic intensive care units and medical-surgical, progressive care, and emergency departments. She also provided nursing care at two Level 2 Trauma Centers.
Before her travel nursing positions, Michaela, a native of the Alleghany Highlands, was a registered nurse supervisor in Roanoke, VA, supervising clinical staff on long-term and acute care units. She also worked as a registered nurse preceptor in the neuro-trauma intensive care unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and as a clinical associate in the progressive care unit at the same hospital.
Michaela’s honors and achievements include receiving the Daisy Award for Nursing Excellence and being on the Dean’s List at Jefferson College of Health Sciences and is a member of several professional organizations.
