COVINGTON, VA – The Covington Lumberjacks dropped their third straight game following an 8-5 10-inning home loss to the Strasburg Express on Sunday.

In the 10th inning Strasburg scored three runs behind a pair of extra base-hits and a wild pitch. Jhoander Irgoyen put the Express up 6-5 following an RBI double. One better later Joe Delossantos brought in Irgoyen to score on an RBI triple.

As the Express had taken the three run lead, it was the first time they led since the 6th inning when the team took a 4-2 lead in the sixth inning.

Covington led for a small portion of the game as the team rallied from a pair of two-run deficits.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning Logan Braunschweig ripped a game-tying two-run single. Then in the sixth inning the Jacks refilling 4-2 scored three runs to take their only lead off the game. Braunschweig led the team with three RBI’s, while Gregory Melo had a team-high three hits.

Charged with the loss was Zalen Perry after giving up the runs (two earned) in 2.1 innings. Brian Garmon II, who started, pitched well on the mound for the Jacks’. Garmon only gave up two runs in four innings along with just one hit.

Dakota Miller led Strasburg with a pair of RBI’s, including a first inning two-run home run. Representing the state of Virginia, Max Kuhle of Virginia Beach and a member of the James Madison Dukes baseball team was dominant out of the bullpen for the Expess. Kuhle tossed 3,2 scoreless innings where he gave up one hit, while striking out seven to earn the victory.
