Children’s author Muriel Humphries Sammons will hold a signing for her new book, “The Shelter Dog,” at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sammons, who taught for many years at Boiling Spring Elementary School, will be talking with patrons and signing copies of her book.
“The Shelter Dog” is a picture book that tells the story of a dog that had been abandoned at a shelter and a young man visiting that same shelter looking for a companion for himself. But, more importantly, it’s a story of abandonment and the emotional effects caused by being abandoned whether it be dogs or children. It’s the story of how this old shelter dog with big, sad eyes became the perfect companion for this young man with a big heart.
Copies of “The Shelter Dog” will be available for purchase the day of the event.
