Richard Michael “Rick” Drewry, age 57, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, July 13, 2020 in Virginia Beach.
Rick was born July 24, 1962 in Clifton Forge to the late James Courtney “Jim” Drewry and Bonnie Nicely Drewry.
He grew up in the Central United Methodist Church and was a 1981 graduate of Clifton Forge High School. He was a laborer for the Maintenance of Way Department with CSX Transportation. His hobbies included guitar, bowling, and throwing horseshoes. He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan, loved all animals, especially his 2 cats and fishing on the Cowpasture River. Rick always loved helping people.  He had a heart of gold and would do anything he could for you.
He is survived by a brother, James C. “Jimmy” Drewry, Jr. of Clifton Forge; a sister, Anne Drewry Tomlin and husband Jerry of Virginia Beach; three nieces, Courtney Drewry, Katie and Sophie Tomlin, a nephew, Jarod Tomlin and a great nephew, Xzavier Clark.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher and Rick’s niece, Katie Tomlin, officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 3959 Electric Rd Suite 357, Roanoke, VA  24018 or to Central United Methodist Church P.O. Box 16, Clifton Forge, VA  24422.
