              There is no charge to list upcoming events, however, other than ongoing meetings, items are limited to no more than two weeks before the event.
              Church items are limited to benefits, dinners and yard or bake sales. Non-profit group yard and bake sales and family reunions and open houses are also published. 

              Tuesday, Sept. 1
              Red Hat Belles: The Red Hat Belles will meet at 1 p.m. at Bella’s PIzza, Clifton Forge.

              Ongoing
              Alcoholics Anonymous: Meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous are held at the following locations and times: Covington: Sunday and Wednesday at 8 p.m., Monday-Saturday at 12:15 p.m. in  the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Annex. 
              N.A. Meetings: Drug problems? Narcotics Anonymous may be the answer. Meetings are held on Fridays at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Covington.
              Blue Ridge Area of Narcotics Anonymous: The Blue Ridge Area of Narcotics Anonymous will meet Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Clifton Forge. 
              Al-Anon: Al-Anon meets Monday-Saturday at 12:15 p.m. and Sunday at 8 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Covington.

              Adult GED Classes: The Clifton Forge Public Library, 535 Church Street, Clifton Forge, will hold Adult GED classes Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30-4 p.m. Classes are open to anyone 18 or older. Registration is conducted at the library. Books and testing are free. For information, call 1-888-622-7256, 540-375-3065 or 540-863-2519.

              Diabetes Support Group: The Diabetes Support Group meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Alleghany Regional Hospital Cafeteria.

              Alleghany Highlands Regional Library Book Club: The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library’s Book Club meets the second Wednesday of each month at 2:30 p.m.  

              Alleghany Humane Society: The Alleghany Humane Society will meet the third Wednesday in November at 5:30 p.m. at the shelter in Low Moor.

              Alleghany Commandry And Royal Arch Meeting: Alleghany Commandry No. 23 and Royal Arch Chapter No. 24 of Clifton Forge will meet the fourth Thursday (January through October) and the third Thursday (November and December) in the lodge. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m.

              American Legion: The American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month at the American Legion Hut.

              Bluegrass Jam: “The Gallery” at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts, 518 Church Street, Clifton Forge, will have bluegrass music every 3rd Friday at 7 p.m. Admission is free and coffee is provided. Bring an instrument and your voice or come listen and toe-tap along with local bluegrass players.
              Story Hour At Alleghany Highlands Regional Library: The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library will hold Story Hour for preschool children  each Wednesday, October through May. Story hour begins at 10:30 a.m. A planned program is held each day. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

              Celebrate Recovery: Celebrate Recovery, located at the Loving Life Outreach Center, 420 Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge, is a 12-step Bible based recovery program specializing in hurts, habits and hangups. For more information, call 540-691-3422.

              Clifton Forge Armory Committee: The Clifton Forge Armory Committee meets the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Armory. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call 862-5683 for additional information.

              Clifton Forge Lions Club: The Clifton Forge Lions Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Scott Hill.

              C.F. Public Library: The Clifton Forge Public Library hosts a preschool story hour the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 11 a.m. Each planned program includes a story, games, a craft and a snack. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 540-863-2519.

              Coffee & Coping: Coffee and Coping, for caregivers and family members of the elderly, will meet on the first Thursday of every month at the Highland House, 3501 Longdale Furnace Road. Call 862-4271 for additional information.

              Covington Masonic Lodge #171: Covington Masonic Lodge #171 holds meetings every 1st Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the lodge located in Dolly Ann. A 6:30 p.m. meal will precede each meeting.

              Covington Ruritan Club: The Covington Ruritan Club meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the James Burke House Eatery on Riverside Street.

              Carpenter’s Battery, Camp 1927: Carpenter’s Battery, Camp 1927, Sons of Confederate Veterans meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Dr. Mays’ Office, in Westwood.

              Alleghany Highlands Chorale: The Alleghany Highlands Chorale will hold practices every Monday at 7 p.m. at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. The director is Kathy Crutchfield.

              Alleghany Highlands Genealogical Society: The Alleghany Highlands Genealogical Society is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the former Jeter-Watson School at 515 E. Pine Street, Covington.

              Rubber Plant Retirees: The Rubber Plant Retirees meet the second Thursday of each month at Scott Hill in the dining room for breakfast at 9 a.m.

              Alleghany Highlands Regional Library Board Of Trustees:  The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library Board meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. in the board room.

              Alleghany Highlands Kiwanis Club: The Alleghany Highlands Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Board meetings are held at 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted.

              AHS Band Boosters: The Alleghany High School Band Boosters will hold meetings in the band room at 7 p.m. the first Monday of every month.

              AHS Concert Choir Boosters: The Alleghany High School Concert Choir Boosters will meet the second Monday of each month during the school year at 6 p.m. in the band room.

              Alleghany High School PTSO: The Alleghany High School PTSO meets the last Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

              Virginia Mountain Amateur Radio Club: Virginia Mountain Amateur Radio Club meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in room 212 of the former Jeter Watson Middle School on Pine Street in Covington. Park and enter the building from the rear parking lot.

              Bridge Club: Bridge Club meets Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. at the Covington Senior Center at the Jeter-Watson Center at 515 Pine Street, Covington. Call Ken Headley at 540-962-9491.

              C.F. BPO Elks: Clifton Forge Elks Lodge No. 1065 meets the first and third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.

              Clifton Forge Library Trustees: Clifton Forge Library Board Trustees meet the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

              C.F. Library Toddler Time: Clifton Forge Public Library, located at 535 Church Street, will host Toddler Time Storytime for children from birth to age three on the first Wednesday of each month. Toddler Time meets from 11-11:45 a.m. Each planned program includes stories, action songs, rhymes and sensory activities. Each program concludes with a healthy snack.               C.F. VFW Post: Clifton Forge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4299 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. at the old Clifton Forge Armory.

              Covington BPW: The Covington Business and Professional Women’s organization meets the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. For more information, contact Jane Tucker at 962-4808.

              CHS Band Boosters: The Covington High School Band Boosters meet in the band room at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month.

              Coffee Break: The Scott Hill Retirement Community holds a coffee break every Wednesday at 10 a.m.

              Clifton Forge WOTM: The Clifton Forge Women of the Moose meet the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.

              Clifton Forge Woman’s Club: The Clifton Forge Woman’s Club meets the first Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse, next to the Masonic Lodge on Commercial Avenue.

              Covington VFW Auxiliary: The Auxiliary of Covington Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars meets the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the VFW home on Dolly Ann Drive, Covington.

              Covington VFW Post: Covington Post 1033 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the VFW home on Dolly Ann Drive, Covington.

              Covington Area Coin Club: The Covington Area Coin Club meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room at Covington City Hall. Call Ken Headley at 540-962-9491.

              4U2: 4U2, in partnership with HOPE Inc., holds a support group meeting every Wednesday at 6 p.m. 4U2 also holds a weekend cafe Friday  nights at the Gospel Tabernacle Resource Center, 414 Mercer Ave. Food, entertainment and games are provided. Call 962-8797.

              Grief Support: Scott Hill Retirement Community, with Mountain Regional Hospice provides grief support led by the Rev. Edith Snedegar at 2 p.m.

              Iron Gate Senior Saints: The Iron Gate Senior Saints will hold meetings every 3rd Thursday at 11 a.m. at Iron Gate Baptist Church.
