AHS takes home first place at Concord Invitational track meet

ATHENS, WV- The Alleghany Mountaineers track and field team placed first across nine boys’ and girls’ events this past Saturday at the Concord University High School Invitational.

 The boys team not only had seven first place finishes, but they also won the event with 179 points as they blew past their competition as the closest school to them was Bluefield with 109.

 McKinley Goodbar and Brady Prior each won multiple events. Goodbar placed first in the discus and the shootout, while Prior finished first overall in the boys 200- and 400-meter dash.

 Meanwhile for the girls, Kiera Lowman continued with her dominant freshman year as she led the girls to a third-place finish with 51 points following her two first victories in the 800-meter dash and 1,600-meter run. 

 The Mountaineers will next compete at Glenvar High School next Wednesday, April 26th.
