Just announced, Alleghany County’s Johnny King will be celebrating the debut of his new studio-released CD “Call It Confusion!”  This CD features well-known and respected Grammy Award Winning Artists Bobby Rush, Tony TC Coleman, George Porter, Jr, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.  Johnny will be performing select songs from the project with the original drummer and vocalist Robert Brown, Jr (RB), who will be driving in from Florida.  The other musicians performing in addition to Johnny King and RB will be Leo Mendez (keys), Stephen Peery (Hammond B3), Billy Berberette (bass and vocals), Rick Leatherman (saxophone), Justin Peery (trumpet), Steve Metzler (trombone), and Johnny King Sr (guitar.)  Johnny King plays rhythm, slide, and lead guitar and vocals.

For all purchasers of Cash Unchained tickets, you get an additional performance beforehand at no additional charge by another band in the Virginia Opry, Johnny King & Friends, by going to the downstairs stage at the Historic Masonic Theatre on Friday, March 31, 2023 starting at 6 p.m. The celebratory performance of the new music lasts until 7 p.m., with Cash Unchained performing at the main theatre upstairs at 7:30 p.m.

Johnny’s bio can be found at https://johnnykingandfriends.com/biography

Johnny King is lightning in a bottle. He lights up the guitar like lightning striking. He is also a producer, soul singer, and songwriter. He produced his first album with Grammy Award winners Buddy Miles, Kofi Burbridge, and Vassar Clements, locking in history the first and only time these performers recorded original music together.

Most recently, he is making music history again! Through the magic of modern technology, songs from the first album have been digitally remastered and re-engineered and been added to include even more Grammy Award Winners!  “Call It Confusion” is the latest release from the Johnny King and Friends endeavor. The album and songs can be heard on digital platforms and the 12-track CD can be purchased online at www.johnnykingandfriends.com starting March 30, 2023. You can pre-save and pre-order your copy immediately!
