Mary Helen Lynn Whitehead
Mary Helen Lynn Whitehead of Clifton Forge, and formerly from Covington, passed away on March 2, 2023. She was born December 4, 1932, to the late Charles and Elsie Lynn of Covington and wife of the late Maynard “Bussy” Whitehead.
Mary was a graduate of Covington High School and attended McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. After her relocation to Scott Hill in Clifton Forge, she greatly enjoyed worship services there. She worked at Child’s Jewelry store and then Hodges Jewelry store before retiring from Aides Department Store. Mary loved playing bingo and visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and sister, Virginia Sizemore.
Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons, Mike (Judy) Whitehead and their children – Brooke (Bill) Carnevali, Lori (Ken) Keister, Chris (Amanda) Whitehead; and Joe (Brenda) Whitehead and their children – Seth (Sarah) Whitehead and Ethan (Courtney) Whitehead. She is also survived by her daughter, Linda (Billy) Rice and their two daughters – Tricia (Todd) Wheatley and Kimberly Rice; two sisters, Sarah Mays and Phyllis Lynn; a brother, David; sister-in-law Dolly Whitehead, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 3:00 p. m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p. m. until time of service.
