Melvin “Wayne” Mason, age 79, of 609 West Main Street, Covington, Virginia died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.
Wayne was born July 1, 1943, in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Edward Elijah and Annie Pauline Furry Mason. He served in the United States Army and retired from the woodyard of Westvaco after 45 years. He enjoyed watching basketball and loved to play golf and hunt.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Joseph Mason, and Edward Lewis Mason.
He is survived by a brother, Samuel E. “Gene” Mason and wife Alice of Valley Ridge, Covington; a sister-in-law, Carol Mason of North Carolina; as well as two nieces and a nephew.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. There will be no services held at this time.
