The Narrows Green Waves (12-3, 7-1) rallied from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to defeat the Covington Cougars (7-3, 3-1) 67-64 in Narrows on Friday night.
The Cougars led 49-38 heading into the final quarter before Kolier Pruett took the game over and scored 24 of the teams 30 points in the final period to help keep the Green Waves undefeated in Pioneer District play at 7-0. Pruett led all scorers with a game-high 32 points.
Leading the way for the Cougars was J’yon Smith who scored a team-high 17 points, while knocking down five three-pointers.
Along with Smith, the Cougars finished with three players in double figures as Desmond Jordan and Purcel Turner each had 14.
Besides the big performance from Pruett, the Green Waves also had three players in double figures scoring as well as Levi Smith scored 13 points, while Hunter Owens added 12.
The Cougars had been 7-0 against teams not named Alleghany heading into their Friday night district showdown with the Green Waves.
The Cougars looked to rebound last night as the team hosted Highland.
