Due to the effects of COVID-19, Covington City Council has changed the filing deadline for tax relief for the elderly and disabled from February 2021 to April 2021.
The change is for this year only.
Covington citizens 65 and older and permanently and totally disabled citizens under 65 who own and occupy their own homes and meet income and net worth requirements and are currently receiving the exemption please note that you will not receive your application to file until the first of April 2021.
Please keep all of your income statements for the year 2020 (Social Security (SSA-1099), 1099R, W2, bank statements, etc.) and bring them with you in April.
If you have never applied and think you might be eligible, please contact the Covington Commissioner of the Revenue office at (540) 965-6350 for assistance beginning on April 1, 2021.
This tax relief is granted annually and application for the exemption must be made each year.
