One day after pulling off a straight set non-district road victory over the Riverheads Gladiators, the Bath County Chargers made quick work in Pioneer District play with the Craig County Rockets winning once again in straight sets; 25-20, 25-12, 25-10.
The Chargers were led by Caleigh Hazlewood’s 16 aces. Laken Tingler added a game-high 14 assists.
The match against the Rockets was the teams district opener.
Meanwhile, as mentioned briefly above, on Monday, the Chargers on the road defeated the Gladiators in non-district play; 25-15, 25-21, 25-22.
After picking up a 10-point victory in the first set, the key to the game was the Chargers rally in the second set.
Down 13-8, the Chargers rallied off nine straight points to pull ahead 17-13 before eventually winning the set 25-21.
The Chargers momentum from their rally in the second set would carry over into the final set where the team closed out their victory.
Tingler led the way for the Chargers with game-highs in kills with 10 and assists with 16 to go along with five aces. Lindsay Oliver added nine kills, while Hannah Armstrong had a game-high 16 digs.
