Marvin Lyn Dunaway of Covington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2022. He was 72 years old and born in Mayhan, West Virginia on February 13, 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Armey during the Vietnam War as a communications technician. He retired from Branch and Associates as a foreman. He was the finest Master finish carpenter in the area for many years. He was also featured in the Country’s Best American Log Homes, 1999 Edition. He was a perfectionist of his skilled trade. He loved woodworking, fishing, classic rock music, painting and collecting antique cars. He was a history buff and a huge Kyle Larson fan of the NASCAR world. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. He even designed and built a custom guitar by hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Thelma Dunaway, his five brothers, Donald, Clifford, Gary, Mike, his infant brother, Mickey Dunaway and his sister, Linda Burdette.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special bond with his one and only granddaughter, Taylor Lynne Stayton. He is also survived by his wife, Sandra Dunaway of 45 years of Covington. His daughters, Holly D. Stayton and husband, David W. Stayton of Potts Creek, Virginia and Danielle D. Lombardo and husband, Frank Lombardo of Roanoke, Virginia and grandpups, Maxx and Marley. He is also survived by his sisters, June Chamberlin of Ohio and Sherry Buehler of Washington State. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, David Burdette of Kentucky, two sisters-in-law, Betty O’Conner of Covington and Jane Dunaway of Oak Hill, WV.
Marvin had many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved and was very proud of.
A private service will be held at Loving Funeral Home by Rev. David Brown. He will be laid to rest at Fletcher Chapel Cemetery in Callaghan. Please send condolences to 410 E.
