SNOW INFORMATION:
The City of Covington would like to make citizens aware of the potential winter storm threat that may be impacting the region Sunday Morning thru Monday Morning. The US National Weather Service in Blacksburg, VA is reporting “Uncertainty remains in regards to how much warm air pulls in aloft and how far west it pushes. This combined with the overall track will determine if we see more snow or ice.”
WE ASK CITIZENS TO BE PROACTIVE AND PREPARE FOR THE WINTER STORM THREAT
Here are some tips to help be prepared as well as help The City with storm preparation.
We ask those that can stay off the roads during the weather event to please try and remain home. We ask residences to be careful using space heaters, and be aware at all times while they are in use, so as not to cause a fire. We encourage residences to prepare and have food, water, and medical supplies for a 2-3 day time span.

If you are able please move vehicles off of street parking to allow for emergency vehicles to have a better ability to answer emergency calls, and this will also allow Covington Public Works to get more of the streets cleared.

In the event of the winter storm threatening Refuse Collection; it will be delayed on our double run Tuesday, depending on the severity of the weather. More information will be released with updated details when available.
The City will have essential staff working around the clock once the winter storm threat begins to make sure that essential functions are available. The City’s Public Safety, Emergency Services, and Staff will continue monitoring the situation with Governmental, Weather, and Emergency Agencies to help prepare for the threat.
