Mrs. Alice Twitty Liggins, age 99, of 315 S. Marion Avenue, went to be with the Lord and loved ones on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital, Low Moor, VA.
Mrs. Alice was born August 17, 1922, in Alleghany County to the Late Lincoln Clarence and Mary Cashwell Twitty.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Preston Liggins Sr. in 2013; son, Robert Sydney Liggins in 2020; two brothers, Edward and Leroy, one sister, Virginia Matthews, two, grandchildren, Sidney Liggins and Michael A. Green, Jr.
Mrs. Alice graduated from Watson High School. She attended a beautician school in New York and received her license, but her husband didn’t want her to work.
Mrs. Alice was a stay-at-home wife and mother who cherished her family.
Surviving are her son, James P. Liggins, Jr. (Dulcie) of Florida; daughter, Wanda Jones of Covington; four grandchildren: Tony Miller (JoJo), Christopher Liggins (Nicole), Judith Merritt (Kevin), and Keeno Jones, and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Cedar Hill Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Rosetta Stewart, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Covington will be the officiant. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Roanoke, VA.
In keeping with Covid guidelines, face masks and social distancing are required.
