Aunt Mary’s Letterbox – Clifton Forge Rescue Squad Not Moving

DEAR AUNT MARY,
What’s going on with the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad? There is land in Cliftondale Park with a sign that says “Future home of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad.”

The land was cleaned over a year ago and now it’s overgrown again.

Are they going to build there? Is there a problem?

I asked Buck Rumpf to check on this, which he did. Scott Balser, captain of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, said the original plans to move the squad to the new location have changed.

The squad now plans to renovate the current headquarters on Commercial Avenue and remain there.

The land to which you refer has been sold to a private resident in Clifton Forge who said he may build a home there.

I reckon it might be time to take down the sign saying it is the squad’s future home.
