Carrie Heim Benson, 93, of 1104 W. Jackson St., died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge.
Mrs. Benson was born March 18, 1918, in Sunbury, Pa., a daughter of the late Irvin Isaiah Heim and Martha Kerschner Heim Clark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis C. Humphries; her second husband, Bennie Benson; her two sisters, Ruth Rimmer and Rachel Smith; and by two step-sons, Walter Benson and Tom Benson.
She had retired in 1994 at the age of 76 as a hairdresser at the Styling Shop. She also worked at the Star Light Beauty Shop. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruby Burks and her husband, Buster, of Covington and Gay Plymale of Madison Heights; two stepdaughters, Dottie Reynolds and her husband, Gene, of Covington and Laura Key and her husband, Fred, of Waynesboro; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. including James Rimmer of Lakeland, Fla.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
The family will receive their friends for one hour prior to the service at Arritt Funeral Home ,and at other times will be at the home of Ruby and Buster Burks at 1104 W. Jackson St.
