Today’s Headline: County Farm Agent Office Abolished By Action Today By Alleghany Supervisors.
The Alleghany County Board of Supervisors sounded the death-knell of the Office of County Farm Agent shortly before 3 o’clock this afternoon.
Mrs. J.W. Meeks and son Grover and John Miller have returned from Waynesboro, where they visited for several days.

Today’s Headline: City-Wide Beautification Plans Formulated For May.
Organization of the city-wide beautification campaign to be conducted in Covington in May was completed last night at a meeting of representatives of several groups in the city.
Miss Shirley Hoover is spending a week in Washington, D.C. with Miss Jodie Layton.

Today’s Headline: Trooper Biggs Honored At Academy.
A color portrait of Sgt. James Leroy Biggs of Covington was unveiled in a dedication ceremony held Thursday at the Virginia State Police Academy.
Dickie and Linda Walton and children, Rick and Christy, Kenny and Alice Carroll and sons Kacy and Steven, Christy Moore, Wade Burger and Rick Bowyer spent the Easter weekend at Virginia Beach.
