Peggy Siron Crawford, 85, of 2031 Jefferson Avenue, died, Monday, April 18, 2011 at her residence.

She was born April 27, 1925 at McDowell in Highland County, a daughter of the late Howard and Sarah Elizabeth Armstrong Siron.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Martha Brown, Cornelia Carter, Hattie Siron and Mary Armstrong, and three brothers, Gilbert Siron, Joe Siron and Garnett Siron.

Mrs. Crawford was a member of the 1943 graduating class of McDowell High School. After graduating from Smithfield-Massey Business School in Richmond, she was employed with the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond.

She married her Husband, Kenneth Eugene Crawford, in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Crawford was member of Edgemont A.R. Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Jon Gilbert of Covington; her son, Howard Crawford of Raleigh, N.C.; her grandson, Neil Gilbert of Mooresville, N.C.; her granddaughter Anne Gilbert of Arlington; her brother, Guy Siron of Monterey; several nieces and nephews and her care givers, Barbara Armentrout , Betty Caldwell, Chrissa Higgins , Jessie Hatcher, Maggie Humphries, Peggy Nicely and Susan Nicely.

The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will selected from family and friends attending the service.

Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggests that donations in Mrs.Crawford’s name be made to the Edgemont AR Presbyterian Church, 2306 Church St., Covington, Va., 24426.
