The Alleghany Highlands Chapter of the American Cancer Society held its annual Relay for Life event Saturday at Jackson River Sport Complex in Covington.
Several walkers and teams took to the course Saturday to help raise funds to aid cancer research.
Despite rainy and less-than-ideal conditions, over 300 walkers comprising 25 teams participated in Saturday’s event.
The fundraising total for the 2011 campaign is currently at $44,623.
Those with outstanding funds may turn them in through August 31.
To turn in money, contact Andrea Mundy at (540) 330-8902.
