WARM SPRINGS - Garth Newel Music Center has announced its programs and menus for the opening weekend of concerts – April 29, 30 and May 1. It will be Garth Newel’s 38th season.
Referred to by the Music Center as “Archduke Weekend,” the concerts feature the resident musicians of Garth Newel performing a wide variety of chamber music, culminating in a performance of the famous “Archduke Trio” by Beethoven on Sunday morning, May 1.
Archduke Weekend also showcases the culinary talents of Garth Newel’s resident Chef Randy Wyche, who prepares multi-course meals to complement the music.
Archduke Weekend begins on Friday, April 29, with a 7 p.m. concert of music by Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly and French composer Maurice Ravel. An optional seafood dinner featuring prawns and trout follows.
The 7 p.m. concert on Saturday, April 30, features the music of Czech composer Antonin Dvorak and Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, followed by a dinner capped off by Chef Randy’s Flourless Chocolate Tourte.
The concluding concert, on May 1 at 11 a.m. features a single work, Beethoven’s Archduke Trio, followed by an optional brunch.
Well-known resident musicians Teresa Ling, violin, Tobias Werner, cello, and pianist Genevieve Lee will be the performers for all the music.
