Dear Editor,
A few weeks ago there was a pageant held at the Covington High School. Apparently whoever that was in charge to take the contestants’ picture wasn’t there.
I say shame on whoever it was. I waited for days for the contestants’ picture to be in the Virginian Review. It never was. I called the Review office to see why and was told nothing had been turned in from the pageant.
I don’t know who all the subjects are. But I do know one thing, I for one was very disappointed of what happened.
I’d like to say the one in charge of the picture taking, give the job to someone else if you can’t do it yourself.
The parents of their children worked very hard in helping their children practice, and with their gown’s and outfits, they were just beautiful.
Also, the grandparents spent big money for this cause. A great granddaughter of mine won for raising the most money for the Heart Fund. Also, the other contestants won for a cause.
The Little Babe contest was so very sweet and they did such a great performance to be so little. And because the pageant was held at 11:30 on a Saturday morning, not many people attended. So it goes to show that a pageant must be held at night time in order to get recognized.
Most of the people there was just the kin of the contestants. I can just imagine how the little miss girls felt, to look out and see empty seats.
Our children are our future and we need to respect and honor them when it is due. I for one am proud to say that one of the little miss girls was my great granddaughter and I just wish more people would speak up when something needs addressed.
I hope the mistake that was made at the pageant will never happen again.
This is why I say to the photographer who was supposed to be there to take pictures for the newspaper, kindly give your job to someone who will be sure to be at the pageant to take pictures of these lovely children.
May God bless each and everyone and I thank the Virginia Review with all my heart for printing this letter in your paper.
Sincerely,
Theresa Bailey
