Mr. David Warren Humphries, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2018, at his home in Richmond, Virginia.
Mr. Humphries was the son of the late Howard V. and Ernestine S. Humphries of Covington.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years Irma Rice Humphries of Richmond.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Humphries is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Humphries of Waldorf, Maryland, Patricia (John) Ligon, and Carrie (Jesse) Venable of Richmond, Virginia.  Also, he was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Shadoe McNeff, Ian Humphries, Caleb Simpson, and Olivia Simpson.
David has several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cecil & Linda Rice of Cary, North Carolina,  Dolores Rice of Roanoke, Virginia, Paul & Yvonne Rice of Selma, Virginia, Timothy & Anna Woodring, of Guadalajara, Mexico. In addition, there are a number of nieces and nephews.
David retired from Alcoa in Richmond (formerly Reynolds Metals Co.).  He was a former employee of Westvaco in Covington before relocating to Richmond.  He was an active member of Gospel Baptist Church, serving in multiple capacities.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gospel Baptist Church on Turner Road in Richmond, Virginia, on Friday, June 29, with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating.   

There will be a visitation of family and friends at 11:00 a.m. with the service following at 12:00 noon. 

He will be interred at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Virginia. 
Sympathy cards may be sent to Mrs. Irma R. Humphries, 4236 Reservoir Lane, Richmond, VA  23234.  In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation to Gospel Baptist Church,   1300 Turner Road, Richmond, VA 23225.
