COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – On September 25, 2025, at approximately 7:43 am, the Covington Division of Police received a call from an individual who had a brick thrown at his vehicle in the area of the 300 block of E. Prospect Street. The victim, who was inside his car when it happened, followed the suspect’s vehicle to Highland Avenue but lost sight of it due to the suspect’s dangerous and erratic driving.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the victim knew the offender and gave a detailed description of the vehicle. At approximately 9:06 a.m., the victim contacted the Covington Division Police a second time to report that the suspect had returned to the house. A Covington officer who was in the area spotted the suspect vehicle at the intersection of W. Hawthorne Street and N. Monroe Avenue.

Due to the circumstances of the call, officers performed a felony traffic stop, and the suspect was apprehended without any further incident.

The suspect is identified as Cameron Lewis, a resident of Coal City, West Virginia, who was subsequently arrested and charged with Virginia State Code 18.2-154 (Shooting at or throwing missiles at an occupied car), which is a class 4 felony.

Additional charges were obtained due to Lewis’s level of blood alcohol content and his operation of a motor vehicle.

If you have any further information on this incident, contact Officer Paxton at 540-965-6333 or via email at policeinfo@covington.va.us.
