COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Alleghany Varsity softball celebrated Senior Night with a tight 2-1 win over Rockbridge, riding a complete-game effort from Addyson Neff and just enough offense to finish the job in a low-scoring battle.

Alleghany High School softball honored its seniors before the game, then delivered on the field behind Neff’s steady performance in the circle. She went 6.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run (1 earned), 3 walks, and striking out 7 on 100 pitches (61 strikes) while facing 26 batters to earn the win.

Rockbridge kept pressure on throughout, but Alleghany limited damage and protected the one-run lead late, with Neff working efficiently in traffic to close it out.

Offensively, the the lady Cougars manufactured just enough. Ava Howard went 2-for-2 with an RBI and 2 total bases to lead the way at the plate. Callie Uzzell finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and 2 total bases, consistently putting pressure on Rockbridge’s defense. Kaylee Nicely added a 1-for-2 night with a double and a walk for 2 total bases.

Brianna Terrell went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. Peyton Broughman added a hit in three at-bats. Maddy Lowry scored a run and stole a base, helping spark the offense early.

Alleghany committed two errors, but the pitching and defense held firm when it mattered most, stranding Rockbridge at one run despite multiple opportunities.
