The Alleghany boys made short work of Radford Thursday at Clifton Middle School.
The Mountaineers swept the Bobcats (1-4 TRD, 2-5 overall) in the six singles matches on the way to an 8-1 Three Rivers District tennis win.
Dominic Trice, unbeaten (10-0) at No. 1 singles, led the winners with an 8-3 victory over Justin McDaniel.
Stone Russell, Chris Tingler, Dawson Tolley, Tanner Arritt and Logan Robertson all added singles wins.
Trice and Tingler were also winners at No. 1 doubles, while Isaiah Roman and Christian Allen came from 6-1 down to win 8-7.
“Overall, our guys played better than the last time we played Radford and our groundstrokes were more consistent,” said AHS coach Seth Davis. “I’m really proud of Isaiah and Christian on their comeback win. They have good attitudes and are team-first guys all the way.”
The Mountaineers (3-2 TRD, 7-3) play at Southern Virginia University on Monday against Parry McCluer.
“We have a big match with Parry McCluer Monday and hopefully we will carry this momentum over there,” Davis said.
