BLACKSBURG — Alleghany’s track team competed Saturday in the Blacksburg Invitational.
Maggie Thompson was the lone point scorer for the Mountaineers.
The senior placed third in the long jump and added a fourth place finish in the triple jump.
Emma Nicely just miss scoring with seventh place finishes in both the 400 meters and long jump.
Levi Counts led the boys team with a 12th place run in the 1,600 meters.
“Saturday was extremely windy and wasn’t a good day to run, throw or jump a personal best, but the team didn’t let that deter them,” said AHS?coach Jeremy Bartley. “Seven of our athletes PR’d in one or more events. I think that shows that our training is working as we continue to progress even in adverse conditions.”
Setting personal records were Counts (1,600, 800), Nicely (long jump), Thompson (400), Ivan Dobbs (100, 200, discus), Nehemiah Reeves (100, 200, 400), Aimee Krabbe (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Cassy Evans (1,600).
Host Blacksburg won both the boys and girls team titles.
Alleghany will run Wednesday at Covington.
