Covington Middle Boys Take Sixth at Southwest Virginia Middle School Championship

ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – The Covington Middle School cross country teams competed Wednesday at the Southwest Virginia Middle School Championship, with the boys’ team turning in a sixth-place finish in the 4,000-meter race.

Oliver Brown led the way for Covington, finishing eighth overall with a time of 15:22.16. Graham Kenny followed in 26th at 16:12.15, while Noah Dean placed 38th in 16:40.33.

Jaxon Via finished 88th in 18:12.60, followed closely by teammate Ezra Smart in 90th at 18:17.60. Bengi Grimes placed 141st with a time of 20:19.86, and Finnley Rosales rounded out the Covington boys in 190th at 22:50.78.

The Covington girls finished 14th in the 4,000-meter race.

Haley Jonas paced the Cougars, placing 57th overall in 20:21.50. Claire McGraw finished 71st in 20:54.11, followed by Kennedy Brown in 81st at 21:10.31.

Mariella Rosales placed 137th with a time of 24:27.66, while Camila Lopez finished 146th in 25:04.97.
