RICHMOND, Va. (VR) – Changes are coming that may affect how much Virginians pay for health insurance. Premium rates are expected to increase for many customers, and some federal tax credits that lower monthly payments are set to expire on December 31, 2025. Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace is committed to supporting Virginians through the upcoming changes and to helping customers find high-quality health insurance.

Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace encourages Virginians to start planning now for how changes may impact their budgets. That includes ensuring that their personal and tax information are up to date on their Marketplace accounts and marking their calendars for Open Enrollment – November 1, 2025, through January 30, 2026.

Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace is working to support Virginians through the changes that are occurring in 2026. The Marketplace offers high-quality, comprehensive health plans that include coverage for preexisting conditions, prescriptions and emergency services. The Marketplace will continue to be Virginia’s official source for purchasing quality health coverage at the most affordable prices. We are working to answer any questions, provide information and updates and help customers find cost-saving options for their health coverage.

Further information is available at the Marketplace website. Additionally, Virginians can:
  • Visit the Marketplace Help Center to talk to a certified Marketplace assister or navigator for free, personalized support.
  • Read all messages from the Marketplace or their insurance company — important updates are on the way.
  • Log in to their account to ensure that all personal information, including income and tax information, is up to date with the Marketplace.
Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace is operated by the Virginia Health Benefit Exchange, a division of the State Corporation Commission. Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace is Virginia’s official health insurance marketplace and provides a variety of resources and support for Virginians to find affordable health coverage that fits their needs and budgets. Visit marketplace.virginia.gov/marketplace-help-center or call 888-687-1501 to speak with an expert. Marketplace Consumer Assistance Center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
