The Alleghany County School Board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at Jackson River Technical Center.
School board commendations will include:
— Will Windham of LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Virginia School Boards Association Employer Accommodation Program.
— Jason Kang, division spelling bee winner.
— School spelling bee winners: Madison Lowry, Callaghan Elementary; Jackson Sydenstricker, Mountain View; Megan Powell, Sharon Elementary; Drake Gibson, Clifton Middle School-Grade 6; Keegan Morris, CMS-Grade 7; Jason Kang, CMS-Grade 8.
Under budget and finance, the board will receive an update on the 2020-2021 budget.
Superintendent’s reports and recommendation will include:
— Calendar information.
— Information on career and technical education.
— Alleghany High School weight room renovations.
— AHS?track and field renovations.
— VSBA Equity in Education Month.
— State school quality progress.
— A hunter safety program in Alleghany County.
— Online courseware.
— An update on New Tech Learning at AHS.
— An annual special education plan.
— A One-to-One Initiative update.
— Chromebook purchases.
There will be a closed session to discuss: Personnel matters, student matters, legal matters and school safety reports.
