Norman Thomas May, Jr.

Norman Thomas May, Jr., age 80, of Bath County, died Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Bath County Community Hospital.

He was born, May 6, 1944, in Bath County, and was preceded in death by his parents, the late Norman Thomas May, Sr. and Dorothy Long May and his wife, Linda Trimble May.

Mr. May retired from Hercules, Inc.; he worked at the former AET Corporation and for the Omni Homestead in the transportation department, which was his favorite job. He had a strong work ethic, worked hard at every job he had and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

He served as Deacon and Elder at Hot Springs Presbyterian Church and Healing Springs Baptist Church.  His faith and love for the Lord showed in the way he lived his life day by day.  He never had a bad thing to say about anyone.  Tommy wanted people to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to love Him as he did.

Surviving is a son, Tim (Twila) May of Hot Springs; a daughter, Pam (Tony) Hensley of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Meagan May and Michael (Catherine) May of Covington and Amber May of Millboro. He had special cousins he loved; Linda (Ronnie) Black of Covington, Sarah (Joe) Rector of Leesville, South Carolina and the Harold’s and Foster’s of Hot Springs, Virginia.

He will be missed greatly but take comfort in knowing he is at peace in his Heavenly home and no longer in pain.

In keeping with Mr. May’s wishes his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home. Family will receive friends following the service.

Arritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling all arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Doris L Via Cancer Fund, PO Box 174, Hot Springs, VA and to the Hot Springs Rescue Squad, PO Box N, Hot Springs, VA. Norman Thomas “Tommy” May, Jr.
