Elliott Wesley Reeves II

Elliott Wesley Reeves II, 80, of Lewisburg passed away on July 29, 2026 at his residence.

Some people leave behind beautiful things. Others leave behind beautiful memories. Elliott “Twerp” Reeves left behind both.

Whether he was behind the barber chair, building handcrafted signs in his workshop, playing music with friends, or asking thoughtful questions that made everyone feel important, Twerp had a remarkable gift for bringing joy into the lives of others.

Twerp was born on October 6, 1945, in Norfolk, VA, to Elliott W Reeves and Lucille Dingess Reeves.

For 45 years, he worked as a barber in Covington, Virginia, where he became much more than a barber.

He built lifelong friendships and was known by generations of families who looked forward to sitting in his chair. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, and conversations with Twerp were just as memorable as the haircut itself.

Alongside his career as a barber, Twerp poured his creativity into his woodworking business, Rustic Mountain Signs. He handcrafted beautiful wooden signs and spent 38 years traveling to fairs and festivals throughout West Virginia, including the West Virginia State Fair and countless other events
where people came to admire not only his craftsmanship, but also the man behind it.

Above all, Twerp will be remembered for the way he lived his life.

He was one of the kindest souls anyone could hope to know. Endlessly curious, he genuinely wanted to know people’s stories. Whether he had known you for years or had just met you, he asked thoughtful questions because he loved learning and found something interesting in everyone. If you spent time with Twerp, you walked away feeling like you mattered.

His creativity seemed to know no limits. An accomplished woodworker and gifted painter, Twerp found joy in sharing his many talents with others. Whether he was building beautiful wooden signs, playing the banjo, mandolin, guitar, or harmonica.

He also had a style all his own. Family and friends will always remember his signature Hee Haw overalls, colorful shirts, and the smile that almost always accompanied them.

And then there was his laugh.

If you made Twerp laugh, you knew it. His laughter was contagious, wholehearted, and unforgettable.

When something struck him as especially funny, he would laugh so hard that tears rolled down his face.

It was impossible not to laugh with him.

While Twerp’s many talents left behind beautiful signs, paintings, music, and memories, his greatest legacy is found in the lives he touched. He made people feel welcome. He made them laugh. He inspired creativity, shared kindness freely, and reminded everyone around him that there is always something new to learn and someone worth getting to know.

His greatest joy, however, was always his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Constance ( Connie ) Hoke Reeves of 59 years; children, Weslea Ann Coles (ex. Bimbo), Stacey Lynn Beard (Scott); grandchildren, Brielle Coles, Bella Coles (Wesley), Bailee Coles (Kendra), Bailanna Coles (William), Nena Adwell (Bransen) and Berkley Adwell; step
grandchildren, Norris Beard, Madeline Beard and Ryan Johnson (Melissa); great grandchildren, Nova Baldwin and Maylee Baldwin; step great grandchildren, Carter Johnson and Cam Johnson; brothers in law, Wayne Hoke, Larry Jones (Janet), Jeff Berkley (Sue) and Tom Berkley (Tomoyo); nieces, Sonja Rozaieski (Jamie), Heather Dobson (Tyler) and Marea Clement (Eric); and nephews, Brian Berkley (Michelle) and Andy Berkley (Jennifer). Though his chair is empty, his workshop is quiet, and his instruments have been set down, the kindness, laughter, creativity, and love he shared with the world will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Mr. Reeves at a later date.
