COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Alleghany defeated Bath County 182-190 Tuesday at Cliffview in the first leg of a home-and-away golf match between the two schools.

Jagger Rowland led Alleghany with a 41, tying Bath County’s Akio Long for the low round of the match. Alleghany’s Jaxon Deen followed with a 42, while Sawyer Knighton shot 49 and Zach Hicks finished with a 50 to give the Cougars their team total of 182.

Caleb Fisher carded a 51 for Alleghany, followed by Gavin Randozzo with a 52, Joe Persinger with a 55, Trista Reynolds with a 57, Conner Dougherty with a 58, Sophie Knighton and Colten Counter with 60s, and Elin Heck with a 62.

Bath County’s Atticus Stauffer finished with a 45 and Draven Whitmore shot 49. Michael Keyes followed with a 55, while Cullen Smith and Mason Henderson each recorded a 58. Zachariah Foster and Aydin Auldridge both shot 61.

The second half of the home-and-away series is scheduled for Sept. 16 at the Old Course at The Homestead.
