Paul Edward “Ed” DeLong

Paul Edward “Ed” DeLong left to join his heavenly father on May 30, 2024.

Ed was born on February 14, 1943 in Clifton Forge, VA to Alma and Paul DeLong.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lloyd Harbaugh; stepson, Steven Neville and son-in-law, Blaine Cowan.

He was a steadfast pillar of the community he loved. In addition to serving through his business, Ed DeLong Insurance Marketplace, Ed was in the first class of EMTs from White Sulphur Springs. He was an Engine Captain in the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, a Squad Captain and one of the first scuba divers in the Rescue Squad and he was a decorated volunteer firefighter for many years. He was also a member of the
St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs.

Ed was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was an enthusiastic gun collector and also enjoyed square dancing with his sweetheart. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends at Sugar Camp.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna, the love of his life as he was to her; daughter, Holly Boggs; stepdaughters, Stephanie Cowan and Sarah Neville; granddaughters, Caitland Boggs, Cassidi Boggs and Bailey Neville; sister, Linda DeLong Harbaugh.

Funeral mass will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs with Father Jim Conyers officiating. Last Call Honors by the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department will be held after mass at the church.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until time of service.
