Clayton William Ward, 70 of Shula Drive, Hurt, VA went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 4, 2020.
He was born on January 30, 1950, in Monroe County, WV. He was the son of the late Arnold William Ward and Irene Lucas Ward of Covington, VA and special nephew of the late Tiny Burdette of Selma, VA.
Clayton Spent the majority of his life in Covington, VA until he retired from WestRock (Westvaco Paper Mill). He was a United States Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran who served his country as a member of the 3rd Battalion 9th Regiment.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jill Benton Ward; one son, Chad Ward and his wife, Gwen of Swoope, VA; one daughter, Sarah Ward Dolan and her husband, Jonathan of Vinton, VA; four grandsons, Nolan, Alexander, Landon and Jude; three brothers, Williams “Billy” Ward and his wife, Donna, Roger Ward and Wayne Ward; two sisters, Sue Ward along with Lee Meadows and Mae Ward of Covington, VA; his mother-in-law, Helen Benton of Autumn Care of Altavista, VA; as well many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert “Bobby” Ward.
In order to respect his wishes, Clayton will be cremated and will have a celebration of life at a later date.
