Black History Month is being honored by displaying banners of a few notable persons. The banners will include George Washington Carver, Thurgood Marshall, and Kathleen Johnson
There are also two icons from the music world – Louis Armstrong (What a Wonderful World) and Billie Holliday (God Bless the Child). Displays will be available at the Discovery Center and the Depot, both are located on Maple Avenue.
The banners have been created by the students in Ms. Slusser’s, Ms. Arthur and Mrs. Easton’s fourth-grade classes at Jeter-Watson Elementary School and are presented by The Alleghany Historical Society.
