Despite the single digit weather, snow showers, and gallons of hot cocoa that the good people of Alleghany County have gotten used to in the very recent past, it will be sunshine and blooms of roses before we know it! When the weather decides to finally warm up -and hopefully Punxsutawney Phil will give us more information on that next month when Groundhog Day arrives- we will smell the sweet scent of popcorn and hot dogs at outdoor baseball games, courtesy of the Clifton Forge Little League (CFLL).
Speaking of the Clifton Forge Little League, we reached out to Chris Rohr to find out more about what parents should expect in terms of sign-ups this weekend. First, let’s dive into the basics. Sign-ups will be on the following dates: January 25, 26, and 27th. Then again on February 1, 3, 6, 7, and 10th. They will take place at the Clifton Forge Armory in front of the old Clifton Forge High School between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for boys and girls aged 4-16.
Mr. Rohr wished to express the importance of what to bring for sign-ups, especially if it is your child’s first time playing baseball or softball with the Clifton Forge Little League. The main thing to remember to bring is your child’s birth certificate, regardless of their age, if it is their first time playing with the CFLL. It’s ok for parents to bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate and are encouraged to do so, but if you are unable to provide a copy, they are able to make a copy upon registration.
Also, homeschoolers are welcome to sign up! If you are a homeschooler who wishes to participate in the Clifton Forge Little League this year, be sure to bring 3 proofs of residency with you. All 3 proofs of residency must consist of the same address on each or they will not be accepted.
For any additional questions or concerns, please call Chris Rohr at 540-958-5720 or send an email to cfllplayeragent@gmail.com. Any additional questions or information should be emailed at cliftonforgelittleleague@gmail.com.
The Virginian Review encourages all of our local youth to head on down to the Clifton Forge Armory to get signed up to play baseball/softball this year and take part in “America’s Pastime.”
We wish all teams the best of luck this year!
